WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

My beloved grandmother inspired me to focus my legal practice in estate planning. Summoned by my family to handle her estate after her death, I found that her estate planning had been inadequate, both in terms of her plan design and the quality of the legal documents, especially her trust. In addition, her estate planning attorney wouldn’t even return my calls.

These factors all yielded multiple adversities for me and my grieving family: her estate was more complicated than necessary, and her assets were not distributed in the most effective manner nor in a way I believe fulfilled her wishes. Thus, it became my mission to help people plan effectively for their families and property to ensure their goals and objectives are achieved in the most efficient manner possible, and to be there for my clients’ families when needed.

I’ve developed how we do business at Howes Law in reaction to my prior service as a litigation attorney. Although I enjoyed litigation practice, I found that most of my client relationships lasted for six months to two years, and then I’d never see or talk to my clients again. Almost all of my long‐term relationships were adversarial. I decided that was not how I wanted to spend my career. When I started my firm, I designed my practice to build quality, long‐term relationships with our clients and allied professionals. My passion is to help people plan for and protect their families and property during their lives and after they are gone. Most of our clients are successful professionals and business owners who love their families and desire peace of mind knowing that their families will be provided for and protected if they become disabled and after they die. They are intelligent, thoughtful and responsible, both personally and financially, and they value knowledge and the ability to make informed decisions.

I enjoy providing each of my clients with personal attention, clear communication, timely assistance, and excellent results. At Howes Law, we take the time to get to know our clients and their families to ensure we fully understand each client’s goals, desires, values, questions and concerns. We explain, in plain English, the available planning options and my recommendations based upon the client’s specific circumstances. Together, we develop and implement a carefully tailored plan to ensure that each of the client’s objectives are achieved and that family harmony is realized.
