Cory Howes is North Carolina-born and bred, and he brings to his work both education and practice in the law, as well as a keen financial mind developed from his experience advising individuals and business in the areas of tax, investments and insurance, and employee benefits.
Born in Raleigh and raised on a Johnston County farm, Cory’s family eventually settled in Orange County, where he graduated from Chapel Hill High School. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business from Wake Forest University in 1999, Cory embarked upon a career as a financial advisor and employee benefits consultant.
At the onset of his career, Cory assisted individuals and families with financial planning, insurance, and investments. While studying at the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, Cory served as managing editor of the Richmond Journal of Global Law and Business and worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable M. Hannah Lauck, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. Upon his graduation in 2008, Cory received the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Trial Advocacy Award.
After beginning his legal career at a litigation firm in Raleigh, Cory opened Howes Law, PLLC, where he focuses on Estate Planning, Probate and Estate Administration, and Business Planning. Cory is a member of WealthCounsel, LLC, a national organization of estate and business planning attorneys who freely share their knowledge and experience.
